November 2020 Marketing and Holiday Planning

The 2020 holiday season is here.

While nothing about 2020 has been business-as-usual, holiday spending is expected to stay strong, and in 2020, the holiday season remains a crucial opportunity for small business owners to bring in revenue.

With the COVID-19 pandemic causing a particular stress on small businesses, there’s added desire from shoppers to shop small this year and to help support small businesses that add value to their communities.

So make sure as you plan your November marketing (and really, all of your holiday marketing), that you’re reminding potential customers of your status as a small business. Keep your messages personal, authentic, and inspirational as we all face a new kind of holiday season together.

November 2020 marketing holidays

Speaking of holiday marketing, we’ve compiled an infographic to help you guide your holiday marketing planning this November.

Some crucial dates to be aware of this November are:

  • 11/3 is U.S. General Election Day. On top of everything else going on in 2020, there’s a highly anticipated election in the U.S. Be aware that online conversation will be dominated by the election, especially during the week of November 3rd, so be aware of that when planning your marketing campaigns. If you’d like, you can encourage your online audience to vote, but just be aware that offering discounts or incentives before or after voting is technically illegal.
  • 11/26 is Thanksgiving. Consider sending a simple message of goodwill and thankfulness to your subscribers on this day.
  • 11/27 is Black Friday, one of the biggest shopping days of the year. Be prepared by adding some one-day special offers to your online store.
  • 11/28 is Small Business Saturday. This is your opportunity to leverage your status as a small business to garner support (and purchases) from your subscribers. Prepare by creating a Small Business Saturday offer.
