April Holidays for Marketing Planning — 2021

Did you know that April 2nd is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day? No foolin’.

As many PB&J sandwiches as I had growing up, I’ve never enjoyed one as much as when I was a poor college student and my roommate and I pooled our resources to purchase a single loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, and a small jar of strawberry jam. We must have eaten three apiece, one right after the other, before we came up for air. To this day, even though I don’t have kids of my own, and I seldom (if ever) indulge in a PB&J, I keep all of the ingredients on hand, just in case I get the urge.

Besides National PB&J Day, April hosts no less than 24 food & beverage-related holidays, such as April 5thNational Deep Dish Pizza Day and April 13thNational Peach Cobbler Day. This makes it a good time to share favorite spring recipes via email, family cooking secrets via video, or start a recipe swap on Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest.

If food isn’t your thing, there are plenty of fun, cultural, and religious holidays this month as well. Take a look:

April holidays — 2021

  • April 1st — Not only is the 1st April Fool’s Day but for you baseball fans out there, it’s also Major League Baseball Opening Day and for the foodies, it’s National Burrito Day. I point this out because you don’t have to only celebrate April Fool’s Day on the 1st. Step away from the pack and introduce your contacts to a whole new holiday.
  • April 3rdNational Find a Rainbow Day — Originally created to appreciate the beauty, mystery, and magic of rainbows. In recent years, due to the creation of the rainbow flag by Gilbert Baker, this day has also become a day to spread awareness about the LGBTQ+ community. This makes it a good day to spread awareness, show your support, or open up a dialogue on social media.
  • April  16thWear Pajamas to Work Day — I’m not sure how this differs from any other workday in 2021, but it might be a good time to purchase a new set of PJs.
  • April 21stAdministrative Professionals Day — Encourage your contacts to thank their admins on this day by giving them an office plant, taking them to lunch, or giving them a gift card to one of their favorite places.

In addition to the fun, historic, and educational holidays this month, it’s also a very important month for Christians. With Good Friday (April 2nd) and Easter Sunday (April 4th), it’s a time for renewal and rebirth.

If you’re not religious, these concepts of renewal and rebirth can be mirrored in celebrating more earth and growth-centric days such as April 15thNational Gardening Day, and April 22ndEarth Day.

With all of these great April holidays, it’s difficult to pick a favorite but honestly, my favorite is also a guilty pleasure… April 28thNational Superhero Day. Besides being a day to celebrate pure imagination, fun, and creativity, it’s also a chance to think about, and support, our everyday superheroes… our first responders, soldiers, volunteers, and blood and plasma donors — to name a few.
